European Leaders Condemn US Action as ‘Intimidation’
European leaders such as Emmanuel Macron accused Washington of “bullying and threats”, after the visa restrictions were placed on figures who have been central to campaigns to enact legislation governing American tech companies.
“For too long, ideologues in Europe have spearheaded coordinated campaigns to coerce American platforms to suppress US perspectives they disagree with,” wrote a senior US official online. “The current administration will not stand for such actions of censorship beyond its borders.”

The restrictions were imposed this week against a former EU commissioner who helped draft the EU’s Digital Services Act (DSA), along with several anti-disinformation campaigners, from Germany and the United Kingdom.
