Approximately 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Cars, walls and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been applied in the form of a swastika, they reported.
Police then found multiple other marked automobiles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Officials say early analysis show the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no indication as to where it came from; officials are not yet informed of any injuries in relation with the incident," they stated.
Local authorities said they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have asked to the public for information.
An important official commented the vandalism made him stunned and required to be solved quickly.
"This act affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, recalling the murder of nine people by a shooter focusing on people of foreign heritage in 2020.
